The road back home

I had just made a trip into sunny Florida and now I was on the way back home to Alabama.  The trip wasn’t a long one, just an hour.  However, duty called and I felt pressed to get back home.

Traveling down the highway; I looked left and then to the right.   While gazing out along the road, this thought entered my mind:  Had I ever wondered about what is going on in the trees and grasses?  No, not really.

Just past the spot where the light meets the darkness is another world; a world that belongs to the animals and the insects.  No traffic to contend with or crime, just peace and contentment.  I should think about  this inner world not my own.

Then, I drove over the causeway that spans Mobile Bay and traffic stopped.  What now I thought.  Some “fool” down the road has made a blunder and is interrupting my trip.   Then I saw the blue sky and the water, and my thoughts changed.

Look at all the colors in the clouds, white, blue, light and dark gray and black all set against the bright blue sky.  I said to myself; only God can paint a picture like this.

The waves rippled across the waters of Mobile Bay.  Some large and some small, and it occurred to me that that is how our lives are; sometimes our lives make big ripples and sometimes they make small ripples, but, they all affect the big picture some how.

This was not a delay in my life, ‘twas an invitation from God to stop and look at what He has done for all of us.

My favorite recipe

Where do I begin?  After all I am a Baptist and our forefather John came out of the wilderness-eating locust and wild honey and we Baptists have been eating ever since.

What is my favorite?  Meat? Potatoes? Pasta?  How about Bread, cakes, deserts?

Which should I choose?  After some careful thought I made the decision.

The recipe for JOY

                                        J - esus

                                         O- thers

                                         Y - ourself

This is a simple recipe to understand, yet sometimes very difficult to get the combination of ingredients in the right order.

This is a recipe that must be followed as written in order for the results to come out as desired.

When done correctly the results are better than any 10-course meal.

A Childs Prayer

“Dear God,

Please take care of my mommy and daddy and my sister and my brother and my doggie and me.

Oh, please take care of yourself, God.

If anything happens to you, we’re going to be in a big mess.”

Special thanks to Debbie
